Title: Car Searching
Author: StarTrails
Spoiler: “Soul Searching” (The one where Harm’s Corvette gets stolen.)
Disclaimer: I don’t own JAG. If I did, I’d be rich and famous and sipping a pina colada with a topless DJE on some tropical island right now. To give you some idea, what I am *actually* doing at the moment is rotting at my desk on Wall Street waiting for the next 4 hours to pass so I can go home. So I hope this tiny story makes your day a little brighter, as it has mine.
Feedback: You all know I’m a feedback junkie. So send some! This means you!
Summary: I watched “Soul Searching” on USA last night, and there was a line that just *begged* to be expanded, so here goes….
This picks up at the end of the scene where Harm and Mac are talking in one of their offices – can’t remember whose it was.

“Help me pick out a new car.”

“Isn’t that something `Jordie’ should be doing?”

“Come on, Mac. You shop for a new car with your girlfriend, you might as well buy her a ring.”

“Would that be so bad?”

“Huh?”

“Commitment – you make it sound like a death sentence.”

“Well, wouldn’t it be?”

“Not if you love her.”

“I repeat – wouldn’t it be?”

“Uh...ah...apparently. So why me, then?”

“You’re my best friend, Mac. I want your opinion. Besides, you’re the one who’s gonna ride me...I mean...ride with me...y’know, on investigations. The least I can do is buy one you’ll be comfortable in.”

“Harm, you know I don’t know anything about cars.”

“Just come with me and stop arguing, all right?”

“Uh, yeah, let me just grab my loincloth. Jeez. What is it about cars that turns men into cavemen?”

“I dunno, Mac. A sleek interior, the purr of a good engine – it’s almost as good as making love. There’s something very primal about it.”

“In that case, I *really* don’t know why you want me to go with you.”

“Isn’t it obvious?”

The end...for now! -- TBC
